COLORADO CITY, AZ — Colorado City and area residents on the east side of the Arizona Strip no longer need to make the long drive to Littlefield or Page to handle basic motor vehicle needs, thanks to a new virtual service station now open inside Colorado City Town Hall.
The Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division (ADOT MVD) has launched a TeleMVD station in town, giving residents across the area access to dozens of driver and vehicle services without leaving the community.
The new station comes just weeks after the town lost its last local option for MVD services. In February 2025, ADOT revoked the third-party authorization of Asset Insurance, citing ongoing compliance failures with state contract requirements. The closure left Colorado City and surrounding area residents once again driving to Littlefield or Page for services such as license renewals, title transfers and registration — a hardship echoing 2017, when ADOT’s consolidation of two Arizona Strip offices first left the region without local MVD access.
At the time, Mayor Howard Ream said he was working with state representatives to find a solution for the community. That effort appears to have paid off quickly with the arrival of TeleMVD.
The new system is modeled after telemedicine, connecting customers face-to-face, via video call, with MVD employees stationed elsewhere. Residents can complete tasks such as credential replacements and registration renewals right from the Town Hall kiosk, which is equipped with a computer, camera, printer/scanner and payment device.
“ADOT MVD is very pleased to be able to bring this service to the Colorado City community,” said Motor Vehicle Division Director Michael Cryderman. “Whether you are visiting us in person or online, ADOT MVD strives to get you out of the line and safely on the road.”
The station is the result of a partnership between ADOT MVD, Mayor Ream and Town Manager Vance Barlow.
Colorado City joins a growing network of small Arizona communities now served by TeleMVD, including St. Johns and Fredonia, as well as the Homeless ID Project, a nonprofit that helps people experiencing homelessness obtain identification.
