Hildale, UT – Hildale City has taken a significant step forward in the development of Maxwell Canyon Park, with the City Council officially awarding the bid for the Maxwell Canyon Park Utility and Access Improvements Project. This crucial infrastructure initiative, funded by the Permanent Community Impact Fund Board (CIB), will bring essential sewer, water, gas, and two fiber optic cables to the park area.
The CIB, which channels revenues from federal mineral leasing into infrastructure and community enhancements for rural areas in Utah, is providing funding for this project. The funding underscores the project’s importance for community development and long-term utility access.
The bidding process for the project was robust, attracting 10 bidders, primarily from Southern Utah. Bids were publicly opened at the Hildale City offices on June 27, 2025. Following a thorough review of qualifications, Jones & DeMille Engineering recommended JNJ Construction Engineering, Inc., a local company based out of Hildale, as the lowest qualified bidder.
The Hildale City Council officially awarded the contract to JNJ Construction Engineering, Inc. at its meeting on July 9. The accepted bid total for the project stands at $2,195,591.00. The council’s decision was unanimous among voting members, with Jvar Dutson abstaining from the vote on this particular item.
This project is a vital investment in Maxwell Canyon Park’s future, laying the groundwork for further development and enhancing the area’s capabilities. The inclusion of fiber optic cables will greatly help by providing internet in the park, addressing past struggles at events due to lack of connectivity. The park will now be better equipped to serve the community with modern utilities and seamless access.
