COLORADO CITY, AZ – A local favorite, The Garage Bar, is marking its first year of operation with a special celebration this Memorial Day weekend. Since opening its doors, the establishment has become a hub for the community, offering a relaxed atmosphere and contributing to a growing nightlife scene in Colorado City.
The anniversary celebration will take place on Saturday, May 24th, featuring a live performance by Mesozoic, a popular classic rock band hailing from nearby Kanab. Known for their energetic shows, Mesozoic is expected to draw a crowd eager to celebrate the bar’s milestone. In addition to the live music, The Garage Bar will be offering drink specials throughout the evening.
“I couldn’t have accomplished this without our amazing team of bartenders and the support of the community,” said Dalton Barlow, the owner of The Garage Bar. “It’s fun to see this town have a little bit of nightlife.”
More than just a new spot for evening entertainment, the building that houses the bar has been a part of the town for generations, with one of its interior walls which has original adobe from the 1950s. Over the years, the space has served various purposes, from a mechanic shop to a gift store.
Barlow shares a personal history with the location. “I remember helping my cousins change tires right here when we were kids,” he recalled. “It’s wild to think about how much history this building has.”
Embracing the classic American bar aesthetic, The Garage Bar features a pool table, dart board, and a jukebox, fostering a friendly and casual environment for patrons. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a prominent American flag, symbolizing patriotism and small-town pride. For those seeking extra amusement, the bar also offers Arizona Lottery games.
Looking ahead, Barlow announced that a permanent food truck will soon be stationed at The Garage Bar, providing a much-anticipated dining option for its patrons. “Looking forward to having some grub,” he added with enthusiasm. “We knew it wouldn’t be easy to open a bar, but this first year proves it was worth the effort.”
The first-anniversary celebration kicks off at 7 p.m. on May 24th at 15 N Central St. Residents and visitors are invited to join the festivities, raise a glass, and celebrate the first successful year of one of Colorado City’s unique and community-spirited establishments
