Colorado City, AZ – A new chapter of “good, clean family fun” is unfolding in Colorado City, at the former site of the FMJ Zoo. In the early 1990s, one of the communities founding father’s Fredrick M. Jessop established the FMJ Zoo, a 20-acre attraction boasting a variety of exotic animals. The zoo provided local entertainment for families for several years. However, in the mid-2000s, the zoo was shut down, the animals were relocated, and the property was largely sold off and abandoned.
In 2022, new fences were erected, marking the beginning of a revitalization effort. Richard & Barbara Timpson who created Family Fun Farm were given the opportunity to move their operations to this location. The farm is home to a diverse array of animals, including horses, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, donkeys, chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, pigeons, pheasants, quail, cats, dogs, and two recently acquired pairs of peacocks. Timpson and Family Fun Farm are looking to expand their animal collection even further.
Emphasizing the community’s tradition of family-oriented recreation, Family Fun Farm invites visitors to enjoy the “creations of our creator” in an outdoor setting. The farm offers a range of activities, including:
Pony rides for children
Boating on the pond
Gentle horsemanship lessons
A designated area for parents and children to fish together
A picnic area overlooking the pond
In addition to the recreational activities, Family Fun Farm also hosts an IFA dealership feed store, supplying basic animal feed, animal care products, water softener salt, snow cones, and snacks.
Timpson and Family Fun Farm express their commitment to the community and its families. “With your support, we feel like the Family Fun Farm will grow and prosper, and can provide good, clean family fun,” says Timpson. For more information Contact them at 435 467 8276
