COLORADO CITY, AZ – Exciting changes are underway at Mohave Community College (MCC), as announced at the MCC Community Advisory Council meeting in Colorado City. The college is rebranding to “Mohave College,” and the North Mohave Campus will now be known as the Colorado City Campus.

This rebranding initiative also includes a new institutional logo, selected through a community-wide vote. Students, community members, and college employees overwhelmingly chose a southwestern style “M” embedded with a cactus symbol, with 65 percent of the vote.

The transition from Mohave Community College to Mohave College reflects the institution’s growth and expansion of programs and services, moving beyond the traditional perception of a community college.

“The community has spoken!” announced MCC representatives. “This is very exciting, the bold ‘M’ helps the College move forward from the MCC brand, and the cactus is an historical and geographical symbol for the College.” said James Jarman, Executive Director of College Communications.

The new logo, officially approved by the college’s board, is now being implemented across all campuses and learning centers. The transition is expected to be completed by the summer, with an official unveiling ceremony planned for August.

“The cactus was first incorporated into the institution’s seal around 1979-1980, and since it is universally recognized as a symbol for a desert – and Mohave College is the only college we could find that actually shares a name with a desert – we think the new logo has the potential to be instantly recognizable across the country as Mohave College,” Jarman added.

While the legal name will remain the Mohave County Community College District, the public-facing name change signifies the college’s evolution and commitment to serving its students and community.

The college mascot, the Bighorn, will remain unchanged and will continue to be featured in the College Spirit logo, used primarily for athletics, student clubs, and community engagement events. The “M” logo will serve as the official institutional logo, used in more formal and professional contexts. The re-naming of the North Mohave Campus to the Colorado City Campus shows the commitment Mohave College has to the community.
