Local Market Returns, Bringing Community Together

Colorado City. AZ – Mark your calendars! The Farmer’s Market is back, promising another season of fresh produce, unique handmade goods, delectable baked treats, and everything local. The market, a staple of the community, is set to open its doors on Saturday April 5 at Cottonwood Park.

Residents are invited to experience the vibrant atmosphere, connect with local vendors, and support small businesses. Whether you’re searching for farm-fresh vegetables, one-of-a-kind crafts, or simply a friendly face, the farmers’ market has something for everyone.

“Mark your calendars, invite your friends, and get ready for another great year,” organizers encourage.

For those with a passion for crafting, baking, or providing local services, there’s still time to become a vendor. “If you have handmade crafts, home-baked goods, or a local service to promote, we’d love to have you join us,” the market organizers stated.

Initially founded by Darlene Stubbs at the Car Quest Parts Store parking lot in Hilldale, the market has relocated and will now be held at Cottonwood Park, on the shaded grassy area along Central Street.

The driving force behind the market’s success is Ianthus Barlow, who initially took over the event to boost traffic to his gift shop. However, Barlow’s dedication quickly transformed the market into a community hub.

“I initially took over the farmers market as a way to drive traffic to my gift shop, but it quickly became much more than that,” Barlow explained. “After a few months of running it, I realized how fulfilling it was to contribute to my community, bringing people together to share their food, crafts, and talents.”

Barlow’s commitment extends beyond business, emphasizing the market’s role in fostering connections and supporting local talent. “Organizing the market has given me a sense of purpose beyond business—it’s about creating a space where neighbors connect and support one another. Each week, I’m reminded of the importance of slowing down and appreciating the simple joys of life. The market fosters a sense of togetherness, grounding me in the values of hard work, creativity, and community spirit. Volunteering in this way keeps me humble and allows me to give back to the town that has supported me.”

He further added, “It’s more than just a market; it’s a tradition that strengthens bonds and celebrates local talent. That’s why I continue to do it, and why I hope it remains a cherished part of our community for years to come.”

The Downtown Farmers Market is more than just a place to shop; it’s a celebration of community, local talent, and the simple pleasures of life. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to support your neighbors and enjoy the best that our communities have to offer.
