Hildale, UT – Incumbent Donia Jessop has won re-election as Mayor of Hildale, securing a strong mandate after a contentious campaign that frequently played out on social media. The central issues focused on the city’s leadership structure and critical water concerns.

The final tallies show Mayor Jessop leading challenger Guy Timpson, with Jessop capturing 58.51% of the vote to Timpson’s 41.49%. Jessop’s victory was cemented by a margin of 141 votes to Timpson’s 100.

Key Issues and Campaign Dynamics

The mayoral race was dominated by debate over Mayor Jessop’s role as both Mayor and City Manager—a combined position that came under scrutiny following the termination and subsequent lawsuit filed by former manager Eric Duthie.

Mayor Jessop maintained that she was diligently working on infrastructure improvement and water system strengthening. Her campaign displayed a significant fundraising advantage, pulling in $1,800 compared to Mr. Timpson’s $500.

Challenger Guy Timpson, a Garkane Energy board member, campaigned on a promise to abolish the dual Mayor/Manager role and hire a professional city manager. He also pledged to make water resource acquisitions with the UEP and stakeholders was his primary focus.

Guy Timpson did not respond to the UZona Record seeking comment following the election results.

High Voter Engagement and Council Results

In stark contrast to a statewide average of 14%, Hildale saw an “impressive 48%” voter turnout, according to the Mayor.

In the City Council races, no candidates ran opposed, ensuring continuity:

Terrill Musser retains his council seat.

Lamont Black will take the seat of Brigham Holm, who chose not to run again.

Mayor Jessop’s Victory Statement to the UZona Record

Following her victory, Mayor Jessop shared a direct statement reflecting on the election and looking ahead:

“I am deeply honored and grateful to all who took the time to vote and place their trust in me once again. Serving as Hildale Mayor has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

The next four years will be filled with continued progress improving our infrastructure, strengthening our water systems, and building community together.

While the statewide voter turnout averaged 14% this year, Hildale saw an impressive 48% showing how engaged and committed our residence are. I am so grateful for Councilman Terrill Musser and him being able to continue to serve and look forward to serving alongside Lamont Black in his newly elected position.

My commitment is to lead with dignity, grace, and respect ensuring that every decision we make moves Hildale forward.”
