COLORADO CITY, AZ – The skies above Colorado City are set to come alive with the roar of engines and the blur of aerobatics as the annual Colorado City Airshow returns on September 20th at the Colorado City Airport. Promising a spectacle that is “even bigger and better” this year, the event will feature a new lineup of world-class performers and celebrate a significant airport milestone.

The airshow has already garnered significant praise from community members and enthusiasts alike. Kyte Gass of St. George, UT, enthusiastically stated, “Best aviation event in our area by far. We love coming out. Thank you for making it free to the community.”

Echoing this sentiment, Jerusha Darger, a Colorado City Councilmember, highlighted the event’s local impact. “I feel like the airport is a huge asset and attraction for our community!” she commented. “I’m grateful for the Fly In Airshow event which brings attention to our Airport and Community as well as giving exposure to our youth about aviation and the opportunities we have right here for them.”

The event kicks off with a breathtaking parachute jump by Skydive Mesquite, setting the stage for a day of awe-inspiring aerial feats. Attendees can expect a diverse range of performances, from high-octane aerobatics and classic warbird displays to gravity-defying maneuvers.

Featured Performers:

Undaunted Airshows – Stephen Christopher and Todd Rudbeg, an innovative duo, will showcase their meticulously choreographed formation flying in their self-built Van’s aircraft.

Brad Wursten – Hailing from Logan, Utah, Wursten will push the limits of his state-of-the-art MXS-R stunt plane, capable of speeds up to 400 MPH, in a crowd-pleasing performance.

Danny Sorensen – From Bountiful, Utah, Sorensen will demonstrate incredible maneuvers in “Unfinished Business,” a truly unique, hand-built red biplane.

Allen Cook – Audiences will be transported back in time with captivating Warbird performances featuring iconic vintage aircraft.

Guiding spectators through every thrilling moment will be the beloved announcer duo, Jeff and Melissa Overby. Ensuring the safety of the entire aerial operation is Air Boss Bob Evans, who is responsible for choreographing displays, managing aircraft movements, and coordinating with performers and agencies.

Beyond the aerial displays, the airshow serves as a platform for aviation education and community engagement. Executive Flight Academy out of St. George, UT, will be in attendance with their new Cirrus SR-20 aircraft, offering a booth for those interested in learning to fly. The Southern Aviation Association will also be at the event to promote general aviation and community engagement.

The airshow also marks a celebration of a recent accomplishment for the airport: the successful completion of the Colorado City Airport’s new taxiway project earlier this year. Organizers are excited to use this popular event to promote aviation and inspire a new generation of enthusiasts within the community.
