Israel Lamont Barlow, born to Daleen Bateman and Israel Y. Barlow,
passed away in his hometown of Colorado City, Arizona, on February 8,
2025. The firstborn of his siblings, Lamont blazed a trail of love,
laughter, and adventure for those who followed in his footsteps.
From an early age, Lamont was known for his infectious smile and a
spirit of mischief that kept his childhood friends in constant
laughter. His ability to make people smile was matched only by his
big, kind heart. Lamont’s love for people was evident in everything he
did. He was a constant source of love and joy for his friends and
family, often sharing his feelings through the power of music. Music
was his language—whether happy, heartfelt, or difficult to express,
Lamont’s emotions were often shared through the songs he sent to loved
ones.
Lamont met Elissa Wall, and together, they had two incredible children
who became his “why” in this world. Throughout their journey, Lamont
was a steadfast support to Elissa in her legal action against the
religious leaders of the FLDS. The pressures of these legal battles
led Lamont to change his name to Mark Davis, a name by which many knew
him in both his professional and personal life. Through the changes in
life and divorce, above all, Lamont loved his children with all his
might.
After some time, Ashlee Bistline entered Lamont’s life, bringing with
her his “bonus” daughter, Sadie. Lamont embraced Sadie with open arms
and loved her as a second father, forming a special bond that will be
remembered fondly.
Lamont was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Daleen Bateman,
whose absence he deeply felt. He is also preceded by his grandparents:
David R. Bateman, Arleen Jessop, Joseph I. Barlow, and Leta Black, as
well as his stepmother, Eunice Cook.
He is survived by his children: Kyson, Kyra, and his bonus daughter,
Sadie; his father, Israel Y. Barlow; his brothers, Dave, Clinton, and
Kurt; his sisters, Ilene, Sherilyn, Lucia, and Karleen; and his
cherished nephews and nieces, whom he held near and dear to his heart.
He had such a unique and individual relationship with all of them that
every one of them is left with the feeling that they were his
favorite.
A viewing will be held at the Holm Heritage Center, 1065 N Carling St,
Hildale, UT 84784, on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:00
