COLORADO CITY, AZ – Cottonwood Park in Colorado City was vibrant with color and community spirit this Memorial Day, as the Youth Coalition hosted its 4th Annual Color Run. The event, held to promote health, teamwork, and community engagement, drew participants of all ages, supported by a strong turnout of dedicated volunteers.
Constance Merideth, a representative of the Youth Coalition, emphasized the organization’s mission: “The Youth Coalition is dedicated to empowering young people to make positive changes in their communities.” She added that the color run aims to raise awareness for youth initiatives, while also encouraging fun, active participation that brings people together and inspires leadership among youth.
For many participants, the run was more than just a physical activity; it was a personal testament to strength and support. Ginny Canepari, participating in her third year, shared her motivation: “This is my 3rd year participating in the Color Run. I’m running for my kids to show them that they can do hard things, and they have all the support in the world.”
The event also served as a platform to honor and support those facing challenges. Gladys Steed ran “for Brian Timpson, Merlin Dutson, Winston Steed and all who may suffer with mental health disorders.” Young Zxander Musser participated for a deeply personal reason, running for his dad, who “just got out of the hospital and that he’s fighting a brave battle.”
The 4th Annual Youth Coalition Color Run exemplified the community’s commitment to supporting its youth and fostering a spirit of resilience and mutual encouragement, making Memorial Day a truly colorful and meaningful occasion in Colorado City.
